A lot has been spoken lately about Bale and Reguilon being linked to both Tottenham and Manchester United, with the club from London winning the bid for the 2 players.
We decided to look into some performance indicators and create a performance profile to see which club would benefit from having both players in their starting elevens. With both clubs already having new additions in their squads from this new transfer window, we decided to count them in to give a more precise picture when adding Bale and Reguilon.
The starting elevens we picked are based on most regular starting elevens from last season and a predictable starting eleven including new signings.
Overall we can see Tottenham has an increase on pretty much every performance indicator, we saw an increase of 5.8% on % Accurate Crosses, 4.4% increase on % Key Passes Accuracy and a increase of 3.5% on % Air Challenges Won, this was the more noticeable growth in Tottenham's team, data showed also a growth of 1.5% on % Successful Dribbles, 0.7% on % Successful Tackles and 0.5% on % Challenges Won. Data also provided a drop of 1% on % of Accurate Passes.
Checking on the impact Bale and Reguilon would had if they were to play for Manchester United, opposite to Tottenham, they had a decrease on pretty much every performance indicator, we saw an increase of 2.1% on % Successful Tackles only , 6.3% decrease on % Successful Dribbles was the biggest fall in performance we registered following with decreases of 2.8% on % Accurate Crosses, 2.7% on % Key Passes Accuracy, 2.4% on % Accurate Passes, 2% on % Challenges Won and to finalise a drop of 1.6% on % Air Challenges Won.
After reviewing the data, we can say that Tottenham was right in signing Bale and Reguilon as they would be bringing growth on the team and starting eleven if playing, on the opposite side it was good that Manchester United did not sign both players, as data is showing, they would bring a drop on performance instead of growth.
